While extremely diverse across the globe and universally significant, this typology has experienced less evolution through the centuries as its primary purpose of housing the dead has gone unchanged.”

Each unit have common formation parts to spatial whole relationship. Each duplex is made up of two uniquely designed units which are fused together to create a set of relationships which the experience of duality of the unit is completed, the full function of a house is achieved through the connection."

Submission #186 | Munjer Hashim: Plant 34 — Plant 34 is a project which takes on the real-world scenario of drought and future water shortage that is a current issue in New York State and creates a hybrid program which solves the issues conceptually. The project argues that in the future, an increase in population and yearly droughts will place such a strain on the current water reserves, that the need for other sources of water within Manhattan must be established.

Submission #164 | Jonathan Cooper and Qiwei Li — "Our Thesis focuses on how the juxtaposition and scaling of mass can manipulate space to form a new vertical city typology. This project locates itself somewhere between the canonical work of Mies van der Rohe in the Seagram Tower and the aggregated city work of Peter Trummer. One precedent that informed the design of the project is Rem Koolhaas' De Rotterdam project. The elevations and the sectional drawings of the building reveal the displacement of the different masses that comprise the overall form. The masses appear to have slid past each other just enough the produce a sense of disruption or agitation."

Submission #160 | Hieu Nguyen — The thesis is emphasised in the study of contemporary characteristics in towers in order to create the new typologies in the  tower where misreading and misfit between exterior and  interior are introduced. By using certain element of contemporary aspects (such as typical floor plans), the thesis tries to create familiar characters while unfamiliar those characters to create misunderstanding between the old  and the new of architecture elements.

After a process of unceasing exploration of the parallelism between spatial qualities and function, we enter into a moment of purification, through the search for the essence. Each space is born of the individual - place - function relationship, generating atmospheric auras that define the place itself. "

Submission #135 | Stanley Tan Hanjie: The Lot — "The Lot: Communal Social Housing Scheme for a Garden Community and Farmers’ Market. The project studies the theme of urban-suburbanisation, calculated efficiency of a self-sustainable urban infrastructure and the design of a rural retreat. Living units are integrated into a living canopy which is used to grow organic vegetables and also works as a rainwater harvester and irrigation system. A food market is also provided for the public."

Pankhuri Malhotra: Muwaileh Public Library — This project aimed at introducing a new construct into the urban fabric of an otherwise mundane setting. Since each building on the given site followed the same typology, my approach was to ensure that the visitors of the library enjoyed an internalised experience and this was achieved by using perforated bricks.
