Submission #382 | Eric Peters and Alex Storz: Institute for Film — “Through investigations of formal interpretations of cinematic terminology, we developed a proposal for an Institute for Film, located in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The film's experience at its core is storytelling. Through the use of perspectival shifts and conceal/reveal, plots and subplots unfold before you. As we combined such cinematic elements, our concept emerged as “Suspension of Disbelief.”
Submission #375 | Jonathan Bonezzi and Ryan Lane: Collaged Collections — “145,000 sqft. the new art museum at 106-72 marginal street, Boston; culminates contemporary ideas in architecture about allure, collage, and collections as ideological drivers for the spatial and representational design process of the project. thinking about the irresolute and the misaligned and the unknown; the project looked towards contemporary ideas about allure and collage to produce deceptions and irregularities in the project to draw the user in. we pose to question in this post-digital age of architecture what it means to be simultaneously object and field.”
Submission #374 | Aidan Crossey: [New] York — “[New] York revisits the idea of an urban fabric and context as a platform for storytelling and atmosphere creation/development though a “speculative” urban design. Occurring in Lower Manhattan, [New] York re-frames the ideas of Archigram’s plug-in and walking city through a kinetic architecture that tends to the cities needs. The machine, residing in a fantastical projection of Manhattan, directly and indirectly, interacts with the urban fabric through three programmatic infrastructural moments: advertising, refueling, and a theater. “
Submission #347 | Mike Roe: Technological Innovation Center — “This design studies the social structure surrounding emerging technologies. It proposes micro scale control of technological innovation void of the ascending political and financial implications that restrict corporations. The program supports maker spaces, fabrication resources, autonomous boat tours, and a digital environment; a new spacial typology hybridizes real and virtual worlds and provides an interface between human and system.”
Submission #343 | Kyle Troyer: Postdigital Mishaps — “The result is a project that remains sensible to computation as an inescapable part of our reality. It explores the irresponsibilities of photogrammetry, texture mapping, and insertion of materiality in today's postdigital world. It plays with the current recognition of our true state of the digital, and exaggerates it similar to how the Baroque interpreted the Renaissance. Images of Borromini's San Carlo Quattro Fontane are photo-mapped in incorrect ways and given physical artifact to trace the consequences of the image's presence throughout the design.”
Submission #340 | Sean Anderson and Tobias Jimenez: La Casa de Colima — “With the intent to continue our efforts upgrading informal settlements across Latin America, we are first constructing a new home for the family of one our team members: the Jimenez family. The Jimenez family is living in an informal settlement at the periphery of the city of Colima, Mexico. While the settlement exists on land owned by the family, it is not in compliance with current planning or building regulations.”
Submission #339 | Jack Blythe and Marc Francl: Housing for the Arts — “Housing for the Arts focuses on sharing the housing project and the site as a whole with the community through the integration of interconnected arts programs. These programs are composed of live/work residential units for local artists, exhibition spaces, classrooms, and mural walls created by artists and community members alike.”
Submission #315 | Joe Mihanovic: Conical Conglomerate — “A loose collage of geometrically similar yet contextually distinct masses decorate the site, providing a diversity of experience and unexpected moments of socialization. The volumes are all derived from the aggregation of truncated cones and the Boolean subtraction and subsequent rearrangement of prismatic masses.”
Submission #278 | Settawut Leenavong: Prasiolite State — “Prasiolite State, or a "Green Crystals of Bangkok" is an experiential, experimental and ecological architecture project done by Chulalongkorn university undergraduate, Settawut Leenavong. The project explores the characteristic of crystal formation, polygons and various connection of molecular joints. Prasiolite takes the inspiration from the name of green crystals which form inside the gas cavity of lavas. The exterior hard shells were able to protect the enclosed interior from the intervention of physical environment.”

Submission #197 | Nick Rossitch: Pool House — "The concept for Pool House, a retreat home, comes from the pastime of playing billiards. It is derived from the path a pool ball takes on the billiards table. The idea is to have the interior circulation mimic a similar movement that a pool ball would take within the boundaries of this pure form of a cube as seen on the exterior of the structure."
Submission #188 | Georgia Pogas: A Spectacular Spectacle is Spectacular — "Resilience is defined as a way to accommodate risk. In terms of a skate park, resiliency tends to be lacking, as it is rendered useless until touched by a skater. As soon as a skater touches an object in the site, it immediately becomes essential to the skater’s functionality. Without the skater, the park is reduced to a field of follies. To the bystander or the spectator, a skate park is difficult to navigate, therefore, it is deemed weak in nature. "
Submission #187 | Georgia Pogas : Oozes and Goozes — Oozes and Goozes Fort Wayne Center for the Performing Arts celebrates the movement of the body by engaging varying scales of performing arts through proximity. Through studying Object Oriented Ontology (OOO) and the process of kitbashing and subtle manipulation of primitive objects, including spheres, cubes, and cones, a formal language emerges through the development of a new object.
Submission #132 | Eric Kuczek and Eric Kelly: Ecke Stadt — "In an attempt to cater to the surrounding context (people, place, climate) Ecke Stadt will instill a hub that provides accessible, openness to public and private working environments. A seamless integration with the architectural geometry allows for an urban experience on the ground level. Transparencies employed throughout the building celebrate the harmonious separation of program. "
Submission #115 | Greg Sheward: RISE — New York City’s population has continuously been on the rise, expected to reach 9 million people over the next 23 years. The need for affordable housing is playing a predominant roll in this growth. This increasing need for housing provides an opportunity for housing to play a prevailing role in the advancement of architecture. Housing has fallen victim to the standardization of the New York City building code.
Submission #104 | Luis Fernando Munoz and Julia Eve Pen: Bubbles — The dictionary defines diversity as the quality or state of having many different forms, types and ideas, but in reality diversity exists in much more complex forms. There is cultural diversity, diversity of thought, diversity of origin, the list grows, and the way diversity is perceived is equally complex. In the context of Texas A&M University there have been initiatives to put diversity at the forefront of the school’s agenda.
Submission #99 | Mordvintseva Elizaveta, Glinskaya Maria, Nechitailova Irina: The wall. New function — The theme of the project we are presenting appeared in MSUA (moscow state university of architecture) in the beginning of the 20 century. We were supposed to design a club, not a night club, but a club for people, having similar interests. We were given a huge area in the centre of Moscow to place our club there. The three of us decided that the ares is too big for one club, and we started thinking about placing three connected buildings there.
Vustyansky Volodymyr: Kyiv State Courthouse — A task of project was to create a new building of courthouse with all provided conditions for rational and effective working process, while present building of courthouse is in very poor status.
Iuri Trombini: Remix — Music, like architecture, is comprised of a series of relational components. But the presence of some objects within larger compositions are not always apparent. It is within the latency of these systems where new knowledge potentials can emerge. This project investigated the architectural implications of remixing music as it pertains to the untapped potential within generative design processes.
