Submission #254 | Masoud Abedi Moghadam: Faded Borders — “As it is understood from the topic, the purpose of designing was to create a fun and amicable atmosphere for the children to learn. We have removed all the borders and class divisions that are usual in nowadays school and instead of that we have merged the learning spaces by defining different zones on the basis of the age of the children.”
Submission #234 | Fabia Sainz: TRAIPSE — "The journey from childhood to adulthood. This project reflects the approach of Conceptual Architecture in order to design a Experiential Learning Center for 8 year old kids. The site is interrupted by the interaction of specific boundaries and shapes that make the student explore different aspects of the growth of the mind and body while learning."
Jonathan Forbes: Dramatic Structure — "My proposal is conceptualised around the notion of storytelling as a methodology of design practice and reconciliation with the first people. Through the telling’s of the “dreamtime” the first people could craft stories through verbal communication. Therefore how can we craft a story through a physical sense? The SoBE attempts to embrace this ideology to create a physical and meta-physical narrative for the students and staff who occupy it, creating a more personalised and intimate experience."
Yeshu Tan: Kindergarten — The central concept of this project is the “performance” of kindergarten. I explored new spatial conditions in the sloping site where kids can walk from the inside classroom to the roof by stairs in order to appreciate the beautiful sea and the skyline of Manhattan.“One of the most fundamental issues a society faces is how to best educate it’s children.
Renzo Lopez: Miami Beach Digital Learning Gallery — The new Miami Beach Lincoln road Branch Library is a duality between the closed, rigid, and pragmatic nature implicit with storing printed information along with the open ended, ever expanding nature of digital information. This duality transforms the modern library into a relevant and revitalized public building which explores and pays homage to digital information.
Bryce Bessell: The Revival — A proposal that seeks to rebel against societies ever evolving technologies and machinery, through the revival of artisan trade skills of which are slowly dissipating with the elderly who possess them. The programme attempts to diminish the current divisions in society that exist between workplace, living and leisure space in order to create a socialist environment.
Bryan Rayo Balandra: School of Expressive Arts in San Martin de Porres — The project is based on volumes placed on a stepped platform that gives a virtual edge to the street. The main volume is an academic block that is a fragmented cloister creating spaces of interaction between students.
Rares Fotau: Engineering University Extension — The project is based on a hybrid between two types of education: traditional learning and the new, unconventional type. Thus I tried to emphasize the relationship of these two types of education.
