Rares Fotau

Information about myself: I am a 4th year architecture student at "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urban Planning, in Bucharest, Romania. I always try to approach a project beyond its functional dimension, incorporating ideas and principles from many different fields of study (music, art, literature, philosophy, anthropology, etc). I aim for a balance between the formal and the conceptual parts of a building.

Project name: Extension proposal for the Engineering University in Bucharest Concept: The project is based on a hybrid between two types of education: traditional learning (based on courses, seminars, etc.) and the new, unconventional type (based on self development, group working, collaborative learning, etc). Thus I tried to emphasize the relationship of these two types of education - this open, continuous, fluent space (the learning hub) that creates its path amid the classrooms (shaped as the gray boxes) which tend to be pushed outwards. The result is a dialog between different types of spaces, functions and activities, that are put together in a homogeneous and coherent body.
