The task in the second semester of mine back in 2016 was to draft a housing project situated in a neighborhood. Dealing with two fire breaking walls limiting the building site was the core theme here. Additionally windows in these walls were not allowed as they would have been too expensive.
I had doubts regarding the interior quality of the rooms in the corner of these two walls because there would be nearly no light incident. Considering that aspect of lighting, I finally decided to move the house away form the fire breaking walls to generate an all day illuminated gap around it. Because of the now smaller space for floor plans, it was an additional challenge for me to optimize them. Despite the fact of not having windows in the fire breaking walls, I was allowed to plant greenery on them towards the house.
Who would not like to see flowers or open a window and pick some basil for pasta? By doing that, an illuminated cool and small private recreational space that I love to call The Green Gallery, has come to life.
