Submission #278 | Settawut Leenavong: Prasiolite State — “Prasiolite State, or a "Green Crystals of Bangkok" is an experiential, experimental and ecological architecture project done by Chulalongkorn university undergraduate, Settawut Leenavong. The project explores the characteristic of crystal formation, polygons and various connection of molecular joints. Prasiolite takes the inspiration from the name of green crystals which form inside the gas cavity of lavas. The exterior hard shells were able to protect the enclosed interior from the intervention of physical environment.”

The height of the lookout tower is determined by the former water level of the Dead Sea, before industrial and agricultural use of the water caused a water level drop of a drastic 1m/year. The lookout provides views of the dry sea bed nearby, framing the effects of the water level drop on the Dead Sea region."

In an initial study of the site's context, the sonic and luminous spaces of the alternating bridge-bay condition on the newly revitalized South Riverwalk revealed an inverse relationship between sound and light during the day and night."

It incorporates roof terraces inspired by Japanese architecture as relief space for the users. The design was adapted to follow the suns orientation to maximise daylight access throughout the structure. The market space below features a cafe with outdoor seating with a spacious atmosphere."
