Submission #286 | Anderson Beuting: Chapel Project — “Upon request for a renovation and amplification of an existing chapel, that could later be used independently from the building it was attached to, for weddings and celebrations to take place, the concept was to create a small piece of art in the middle of the city of Joinville.”
Submission #250 | Tomasz Bulczak: Atlas of Unexpected Spaces for Collectivity — “Atlas aims to spark an impulse for bottom-up associations and industries to bring Lot together. As in Erwin Schrodinger concept of shared consciousness or Buckminster Fuller’s Spaceship Earth, they can perceive themselves as unity that can act successfully for their own sustainable future.”
Submission #205 | Paulina Hurtado: Narrows Pavilion — "Narrows pavilion is a social platform that works as a living organism introducing the subject into a portal that addresses space as the expression of scenery. The pavilion explores the idea of implied functionality. Something that might happen but doesn’t have a fixed definition. For instance, it is a space for exhibitions, but it is not a museum; it is a space with scenographic features for performances, but it is not a theater; it is a space for dinning and social encounter, but it is not a cafe nor a restaurant."
Submission #115 | Greg Sheward: RISE — New York City’s population has continuously been on the rise, expected to reach 9 million people over the next 23 years. The need for affordable housing is playing a predominant roll in this growth. This increasing need for housing provides an opportunity for housing to play a prevailing role in the advancement of architecture. Housing has fallen victim to the standardization of the New York City building code.
Alex Varvar, Advita Madan, Emily McKenna, Zakaria Boucetta: Forresta Vasta — "Urban redesign of the raildeck in Toronto. Implementing a "vast forrest" with new urban form typologies across the cities skyline. Letting the architecture be influenced by the typologies of the trees and its structural diversity. This project was a group urban design project of “super- studio”. The whole semester is dedicat- ed in urban scale design projects and quick projects where we intervene with a logical concept for sites around Toronto."
Andres Roncal: Grand Hall Freshman Dormitory — "The proposed program is meant to burst the bubble in which Pratt students are forced to live in and give public space back to the landscape of the city. By mapping the public parks around the area it became evident that there were only two public parks available to the immediate community. Fort Green Public Park and Pratt Institute's Sculpture Park; the latter gated and limited to no public access. This segregation was reflected in the lack of understanding for the students to their surroundings which then increased the naive self exposure to crime in the area."
Andre Lim: Continuum — This project aims to rediscover the idea of a roof, its construction techniques, materiality and overarching purpose. Relooking at the university’s existing cafeteria serves as a good medium to push the boundaries of what a roof has to offer.
Minhui Zhou: Re-know Bow Wow — My project is a series of assignment of our architecture drawing class so it's not my original design. I chose the House & Atelier by Atelier Bow Wow for this course and did a representation based on my own understanding to the house.
Aikaterini Paitazoglou and Cameron Reid: All This Space! — “All This Space!” is a critique on the housing system today. It is a unique take on zoning as a technique of growth. R1 zoning will be reinvented promoting varied architecture, density, use of all that space in the in between zone. It is a technique that the redefined zoning will promote a slow pace of development and a comment on the housing system today.
Ayli Parshukova: The Albion — The concept of the skyscraper: the part of the rock on the top of mountains, split under the influence of wind, rain and time.
