With increasing population density, there is a need to introduce hyper-dense housing as well as public facilities to the preexisting heritage city. Conflicts associated with cultural, environmental transition and limited spaces commonly arise in the community."

Submission #201 | James Frolow: Lucidity — "This task involved observing tango dancers and sketching the voids inbetween each figure. From this lines were manipulated in Rhinoceros to obscure  curved forms. These forms were then sliced to acquire a faceted object which could be interpreted as a building. Students were given a brief to place this object into the North Terrace context to serve as an architectural school for the University of Adelaide."

Creating light filled apartments, aiming for interior spaces that feel exterior, giving each inhabitant their own space but making sure they always meet in the middle, through common space.

Submission #133 | James Frolow: Elevare Apartments — "Elevare Apartments on Pulteney St aims to seduce the public with generous openings to the ground level markets. It incorporates roof terraces inspired by Japanese architecture as relief space for the users. The design was adapted to follow the suns orientation to maximise daylight access throughout the structure. The market space below features a cafe with outdoor seating with a spacious atmosphere."

James Frolow: Pontem Morari — ‘Pontem Morari’, which translates to ‘Linger Bridge’, is a multi-purpose bridge spanning the port river to physically connecting a tram line from Port Adelaide to Largs Bay. Much like the Birkenhead Bridge, the design opens to allow for passing ships.
