Before actually arriving here, I too fell victim to this ‘surreal façade’, contriving a glitzy, glamorous cityscape to be my future abode.”

Submission #353 | Rotem Guy: Gilbert & George House — “Gilbert & George House is an interior decoration project inspired by the British Pop artists Gilbert Passmore and George Proesch. The couple is known, among other things, for their big scale photographs, titled ‘THE PICTURE’. Those works deal with the complex relations between the individual – the frame – and space, while examining interrelations between documenting reality and creating fantasy. Decomposing their works and identifying the different components enabled the creation of a formally, graphically and functionally empowered explicit space.”

Proceeding with the definition of the intervention, the intention was to bring the dialogue to the human scale, favoring the meeting between people and different figures through the interaction between the spaces.”

Submission #228 | Trevor Mayes: Manhattan Project 2.0; The Bureau of Transnationalism — "The Bureau of Transnationalism seeks to dissolve borders and encourage globalization by compressing these tiers of connection that currently segregate the world. This is accomplished by providing internet access of an unprecedented speed to the entirety of the world’s population in exchange for individuals’ personal data, eliminating any borders separating people from people."
Submission #157 | Jack Oliva-Rendler: Apparatus for Technical Logic in Analytic Structures — Apparatus for Technical Logic in Analytic Structures :Along a strata, giving access to diverse and ecological contexts, infrastructure is explored in its capacity to give structure to the creative and analytic processes involved in the creation of our built environment. Infrastructure is proposed as being responsible for physical and environmental systems, as well as informational infrastructures that give coordination between multiple layers of our built environment in itself, and the cognitive processes that create our built environment.

The first question is memory and heritage, which historic houses give life to a population that has lived there for generations. The second major issue is the uncertain future of the region with all the transformation process that has been taking place in recent years."
Submission #102 | James Brillon and Alexander Van Odom: Restructuring the Bronx — The project reconciles the infrastructural cuts that have separated the Bronx from its waterfront over the past 100 years. In the wake of the borough’s development, several north-south axes of freight train, car, and rail infrastructure have damaged the urban fabric, without consideration of local resident’s needs. To counter this, the project considers infrastructure as a tool for empowerment of local communities.
Kaley Overstreet, Kyle Zook, Enio Dajko: Animal House — Our project, situated on the corner of 135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem, NY, explores a voyeuristic idea of how life in New York City acts as a “sitcom” performance within an 8-unit apartment complex. By using animals or various sizes as a parti of scale, we were able to create identifiable units that differ in size, location within the building, and match the personified traits and possessions of each animal.
