378 / Gregory Rendon Jr: Infill Housing

Submission #378 | Gregory Rendon Jr: Infill Housing — “Located in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia, the objective was to create an apartment complex, garden & carriage house on a corner lot. This project was developed from two main concepts. The primary concept is using a dynamic built-in structure to mold furniture and create unique spacial conditions. The scheme of this design is folding a monolithic plane to serve multiple functions while removing the interpretation of what is a floor, wall, and roof. The second concept is a vertical public space that resides in the interior of the building. Illuminated by a system of skylights from above, this serves as the anchor of the social space while also illuminating the units with natural light through the interior. Materiality was carefully chosen to maintain the urban fabric while introducing a contemporary building.”

179_Michael Fohring: Pet Furniture

Submission #179 | Michael Fohring: McGill Architecture — Pet Furniture seeks to reimagine our relationships and stories with our furniture, amplifying this odd sensation that inanimate “things” just may, possibly, have a soul, or gender, or feelings.  While we largely take furniture for granted for their functionality, or merely idolize their beauty and craft, Pet Furniture aims to imbibe them with a sense of eroticism, curiosity, and humour, re-charging our domestic spaces with these qualities as well.

Kaley Overstreet, Kyle Zook, Enio Dajko: Animal House — Our project, situated on the corner of 135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem, NY, explores a voyeuristic idea of how life in New York City acts as a “sitcom” performance within an 8-unit apartment complex. By using animals or various sizes as a parti of scale, we were able to create identifiable units that differ in size, location within the building, and match the personified traits and possessions of each animal.

30_Minhui Zhou: Re-know Bow Wow

Minhui Zhou: Re-know Bow Wow — My project is a series of assignment of our architecture drawing class so it's not my original design. I chose the House & Atelier by Atelier Bow Wow for this course and did a representation based on my own understanding to the house.
