Submission #349 | Jonathan Ben David: Terra Nullius: “Terra Nullius is situated at the southern coast of the city of Jaffa, once a busy Arab metropolis, and today a poverty stricken neighborhood on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, Israel, undergoing dramatic gentrification. The projects aims to trace the traditional violence stirring identities of the middle east, and replace them with alternative frame of reference in which individuals can gather upon, no matter of nationality or religious belief.”

Submission #328 | Fariz Azahar: Living Monument: Sentient City for a Post-Socialist Proletariat — “There was a time when humans longed for absolute unification, terminating class antagonism and campaigning for social status emancipation. A series of liberating acts hurled by a revolutionary society who fought in the name of equality, in both powers and rights. Overcoming global metamorphosis, they prevailed and implemented a new fundamental in the social system through methodology of horizontal society, an antithesis to the patriarchal governing system that has been second nature to men since the primordial times.”
Submission #314 | Ali Chahine and Mustafa Bahce: The New Datum — “We address issues of site connectivity to the waterfront and use architecture as flood protection to create new urban spaces in a rather industrial site along the waterfront. The concept experimented a new building typology that served as a transportation network system, above grade, that allowed for new types of program for the community.”
Submission #308 | Tiago Vasconcelos: Permabioreactor — “Climate change is only exacerbating this challenge; as increasing temperatures and oceanic acidification are causing large shifts in migratory patterns of animals and reduction of fish populations; making these subsistent sources increasingly difficult to come by for Native peoples. Additionally, elevating temperatures are causing widespread permafrost thaw; wreaking structural havoc and greenhouse gas emissions.”
Submission #247 | Lambert David: Refuge-ground — “Thanks to this new architectural concept, 25,000 shelters have been built on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, giving shape to a network of habitable offshore salt platforms raised above sea level. These human groups are gradually reconquering abandoned sectors, sheltering new forms of lacustrine societies, allowing life to emancipate in this vast salt water ecosystem.”
