Submission #257 | Zahid Ajam: Redrawing East Harlem — “Through analyzing the urban fabric, a block of NYCHA properties seemed to divide East Harlem into two halves. These NYCHA developments follow the model of the tower in the park where the park was intended to become a public social space. Over time it was considered an unsuccessful model since attempting to become everyone’s space, the park became no man’s land as no one took ownership of it.”
Submission #249 | Andrea Molina: ONCE UPON A TIME IN ALCORCÓN — “The name of my project is ONCE UPON A TIME IN ALCORCÓN, cause its main purpose is to transform an obsolete industrial state into an advanced neighbourhood recalling the history of the place through the proposed architectural interventions in its public space.”
Submission #107 | Houman Khosravi: Music for Housing — "The first exercise of of the semester was to craft a conceptual construct based on design intuition as well as my preconceived notions and views of London. Using mechanical found objects, I created three scenarios to build off of, each would become its own construct."
Sara Ibrahim and Suzan Ibrahim: Hyperbuilding — A Hyperbuilding that embodies a taxonomy of precedent floor plans. This calls for an architecture that is completely inclusive, temporary and permanent, monumental and miniature, historic yet advanced, but most importantly a cultural, economic, and a social experiment of a vertical conglomerate.
Arooj Ahmad and Georgia Ntoukaki: Lost Memories of Glasgow — The project is essentially an exploration into the memories left behind by buildings that are now derelict, under-used and ignored. How architecture today can capture the essence of the spaces and meanings behind those spaces and convey them in a different manner to inspire a connection between people and the place they inhabit was the key idea.
