A hybrid building directed on the research and the sport.

Ce projet est porté par une idée forte : la connexion. Celle-ci est directement introduite par l’emplacement du site : une dent creuse bordée au sud par une piste d’athlétisme, le stade Philipides, et a l’est par un arrêt de tramway ,où passe la ligne principale de la ville de Montpellier.

L’objectif principal du bâtiment étant de connecter la ville au complexe sportif, la forme globale du projet découle de l’horizontalité du stade. D’une part en s’implantant sur la totalité de la surface disponible et en s’organisant sur des niveaux semi enterrés, ermettant au projet de culminer à une hauteur raisonnable, discrète par rapport aux bâtiments voisins. D’autre part, grâce à l’utilisation de débords de toiture considérable, jouant le rôle de terrasse ou de protection solaire, qui viennent s’étirer en direction du stade et accentuer l’horizontalité du projet.

Cette linéarité forte est dynamisée par l’emploi du pan incliné qui se retrouve au sol, offrant une circulation fluide et ergonomique, mais aussi en toiture où celle-ci prend la forme d’une ligne brisée, soulignée par une série de fins poteaux,

qui guide le regard des usagers, vers le stade.

This project is supported by a strong idea: the connection. This is directly introduced by the location of the site: a hollow tooth bordered to the south by an athletic track, the Philipides stadium, and to the east by a tramway stop, where the main line of the city of Montpellier.

The main objective of the building is to connect the city to the sports complex, the overall shape of the project stems from the horizontality of the stadium. On the one hand, by installing itself on the total available surface and organizing itself on semi-buried levels, enabling the project to culminate at a reasonable height, discreet in relation to neighboring buildings. On the other hand, thanks to the use of considerable roof overhangs, playing the role of terrace or sun protection, which stretch towards the stadium and accentuate the horizontality of the project.

This strong linearity is energized by the use of the sloping pan which is found on the ground, offering a fluid and ergonomic circulation, but also in the roof where it takes the form of a broken line, underlined by a series of fine posts, Which guides the users' eyes, towards the stadium.
